A High-powered Digital Mixer with All the Trimmings

The DiGiCo Quantum 338 is a digital mixer with a lot to offer, including 128 input channels, 64 buses, an LR/LCR/LCRS/5.1 master bus, and a 24-in/24-out processing matrix. This digital console contains an abundance of useful I/O, including eight mic/line inputs, eight analog outputs, and four channels of AES/EBU digital, along with three MADI ports, Optocore support, and UBMADI. You also get two dedicated DMI slots for even more expansion. For the Quantum 338, DiGiCo packed a lot of processing power into a feature-laden digital console. The Quantum 338 includes a generous 128 input channels, along with 64 aux/subgroup buses, an LR/LCR/LCRS/5.1 master bus, and a 24-in/24-out matrix — all with full channel processing. You also get Mustard Processing channel strips with emulated tube preamplification, a 4-band EQ, three styles of compression, and a gate/ducker. Beyond that, DiGiCo’s Spice Rack provides powerful FPGA-fueled insert effects, which include parametric and dynamic equalization plus single-band and multiband compression.

Plenty of I/O under the hood

The DiGiCo Quantum 338 has a lot going on under its hood. Its local connections include eight mic/line inputs and eight analog outputs with top-shelf 32-bit Ultimate Stadius AD/DA, as well as four channels of AES/EBU digital in/out. This digital mixer includes three redundant MADI in/out, which can also be configured as six MADI I/O at 48kHz. You can add dual second-generation Optocore loops. You also get 48 channels of UBMADI, permitting you to connect your laptop via USB for multichannel recording and playback. What’s more, the Quantum 338’s two dedicated DMI slots make expansion a cakewalk via DiGiCo’s robust selection of interface option cards.

The Quantum 338 is teeming with high-end features. That said, it’s a breeze to navigate, courtesy of three 17-inch multi-touch screens with a meter bridge and soft quick-select buttons. You get 70 individual TFT LCDs for displaying channel information and metering, bank information, macros, and more. You’ll also enjoy comfortable tactile control, thanks to 38 touch-sensitive, motorized 100mm faders in three banks of 12, plus two user-assignable faders with high-resolution metering.
